V. Training Program

1. Object

The purpose of the training course is strengthening the friendship between the two countries and spurring mutual development. KEPCO invites high-level officials and working-level staffs in Indonesia’s power industry to benchmark each other’s power business and find ways of mutual cooperation in the power industry. KEPCO also introduces its advanced power technologies and knowhow to the trainees through on-the-spot study, gives them a travel to cultural relics and a study visit of some Korean manufacturing factories.

2. Training schedule

As parts of the this project, Training programs in Korea consist of 2 parts. One is for managers and the other is for engineers. And also KEPCO dispatched its experts to Indonesia for training more engineers. The following table shows training schedule in Indonesia and Korea.

3. Training program in Korea

3-1 Training period and number of trainees

  1. 1st : ’07. 2.25 – 3.24 (4weeks) / 16 engineers
  2. 2nd : ’07. 5 .6 – 5.19 (14days) / 10 managers

3-2 Location : KEPCO CEI

3-3 Accommodation : CEI Dormitory (Hotel while industry visit)

  1. Invite experts for each parts and have a lecture in english
  2. Make use of the textbookwritten in english, technical applications, distributionmaterials, and photos in lectures.
  3. Do a lecture, practice, and field trip side by side for improving the training effect

3-7 Training institute

Training institute is CEI (Central Education Institute) of KEPCO which is located at Gongneung Dong in Seoul City. It has been established in 1961 for the KEPCO employee training. CEI has good facilities for training of electrical engineers. The outline of KEPCO CEI facilities are follows;

3-7-1 Area : 680,632m2

3-7-2 Floor space area : 36,831m2

3-7-3 Training and practice room

  1. 58 rooms for 1,875persons
  2. 6 outdoor practice fields (2 for transmission, 4 for distribution)

3-7-4 Dormitories : 114 rooms for 408 persons.

3-7-5 Health and welfare : Artificial lawn ground, 6 tennis courts, volley ball court, table tennis court, billiard room, health and sauna room, 2 dining rooms.

3-7-6 Others : Data and information service room, historical material exhibition room, broad -casting studio, internet room, reading room, outdoor walking path as shown in [Figure 5-2].

4. Training program in Indonesia

4-1 Training period and number of trainees

  1. 1st : ’07. 1.29 – 1.31 (3days) / 36 engineers
  2. 2nd : ’07. 5 .1 – 5. 5 (5days) / 12 DAS Operators

4-2 Location : Semarang Training center and DCC in Semarang Branch office

4-3 Training method

  1. Invite experts for each parts and have a lecture in english
  2. Make use of the textbookwritten in english, simulators, movies, distribution materials, and photos in lectures
  3. Do a lecture, practice, and field trip side by side for improving the training effect

5. Training result

Totally 74 Indonesian staffs in power industry received the training program on 4 occasions.

In the training courses, KEPCO presented its advanced technologies accumulated over the last 40 years while Indonesian trainees could obtain technology information required for their power distribution part’ development.

Though the Indonesian trainees experienced various equipment from many countries, they were impressed by competitive operating system of KEPCO and highly credible Korean materials and equipment. The program gave both parties a good opportunity to understand each other’s power business.
